


This unique seaside resort, with its magnificent buildings and charming ambience, enjoys a lovely setting at the mouth of the river Rance, directly opposite Saint Malo. The possibilities of its fine sheltered beaches, and the attraction of the scenery, were first realised by an American about 1850, and were developed by the British. With the influx of tourists a small fishing village on the site grew rapidly into a spacious town as hotels and villas, gardens and parks, were planned and constructed.

To the left you will reach Saint Enogat, which has its own fine beach. To the right, you will come across the Promenade au Clair de Lune, a walk along the sea wall following the water’s edge until it reaches the Plage du Prieuré (Priory Beach), so called from the 14th century priory, of which a few ruins can still be seen, and from here the walk continues still further round the coast.
